Trip Information

Shisapangma Expedition is the second option for mountaineers after Cho Oyu to scale 8,000m peak which is entirely situated in Tibet near by the Langtang peaks in Nepal border.Shisapangma is the last of the fourteen 8,000m peaks in the world because of the elevation. Climbing Shisapangma is straight forward from the north-west ridge with the chances of high success rate.

From the north side of Sishapangma, the basecamp is located at the height of 5,000m with the fantastic scenery of high mountains. The camp 1 is set up on the elevation of 5,400m at the glacier of west side moraines and normally 3 high camps are set to reach the Falls Summit. There are 2 summits in Sishapangma, one is Falls summit and another is main summit. It is also possible to reach the main summit from camp 3 but risk is very high therefore most of the climbers they prefer to use South side.
There are two routes in Sishapangma, one is from North-west ridge which is known as normal route and another route is from South face which is more difficult than normal route. In the south route, the high risk of getting avalanches and route is steep vertical. The route to Sishapangma Expedition is depends from which face you want to scale the mountain, If you prefer to follow from south face route, then you have to choose south side from Nyalam about 3KM drive then trekking and using Yaks to reach Base Camp. Base Camp of South face to Sishapangma is greenery and in small valley where small glacier river goes just from the middle of camping site. To reach the Deposit camp from Base Camp is little far way about 6-7 hours walk. On the way to Camp 1 from Deposit camp there are mainly 2 places of getting high risk by avalanches. In the Camp I, to setup tents is only possible after making place on the ridge where maximum of two tents can be fixed. In the Camp 2, there is no place for tents therefore the alternative ways like Ice Bivouac and Rock Cave Bivouac (Bivouac word is taken from French Language) where maximum of 2 or 3 person can sleep but the risk is too high. The real summit of Sishapangma from Camp 2 is possible without setting more high camps.
